Listen Now: The Suffers’ Kam Franklin Releases New Solo Single “A Bitch Didn’t Listen”

The frontwoman of The Suffers, Kam Franklin, has released a new solo single dubbed “A Bitch Didn’t Listen.” Additionally, the artist revealed that she would support Margo Price on a run of five dates and open for Mavis Staples in Tuscon, Ariz., on Dec. 11.
Franklin’s single was co-written by Sara Van Buskirk, who also applied guitar chords and background vocals to the new number. Additional contributors include bassist Geoffrey Muller, pianist/ organist Ed “Blacknintendo” Prevost, pedal steel player Will Van Horn and fellow member of The Suffers, Jose “Chapy” Luna, on drums and percussions.
The new song was mixed by John Allen Stephens and mastered through the work of Chris Longwood. Franklin shares that her new music is “For those of us that partake in the healing benefits of cannabis, being mindful of your usage is extremely important, especially when it comes to edibles.”
As a complete piece, “A Bitch Didn’t Listen” is a vibey number that “is about knowing your dose, and the chaos that can ensue when you choose to go the opposite route. In my case, I thought I could handle more edibles than what was recommended by my good friend and THC expert, Margo Price.”
Franklin concluded her statement by adding, “I was wrong, but at least I got a good laugh and a fun song out of it.” “A Bitch Didn’t Lie” is Franklin’s first solo release following The Suffers’ latest LP, It Starts With Love, which dropped over the summer via Missing Pieces Records.
In addition to new music, Franklin also revealed that she would join Price on the road this winter, beginning on Nov. 29 at George’s Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville, Ark., followed by four stops throughout the Southern region of the U.S. After Franklin’s final concert date with Price on Dec. 6, she’ll join legendary singer Mavis Staples and open the show on Dec. 12 at the Fox Theatre in Tucson, Ariz.
