Phish to Webcast Clifford Ball Show During Thanksgiving Dinner and a Movie Special
Phish will revive their Dinner and A Movie series this weekend, webcasting their acclaimed 1996 Clifford Ball festival on Friday and Saturday. The Clifford Ball was Phish’s first official large-scale multi-day festival, laying the blueprint for both their other weekend campouts as well as multi-band gatherings like Bonnaroo, Governors Ball and ACL. The Vermont Quartet officially released The Clifford Ball on DVD in 2009.
As the band explains, “We will air three sets from Aug. 16 this Friday beginning at 7 p.m. EST and three sets from Aug. 17, 1996, on Saturday night at 7 p.m. EST. Join us on the couch at webcast.livephish.com or on Phish’s YouTube channel. What’s for dinner?? Balls, of course. Longtime Phish staffer Betty Frost cooked up some Leftover Turkey Meatballs in a Thai Coconut Curry broth, some Chocolate Dipped Coconut Balls, and a Kale Caesar salad with Roasted Squash and Rosemary Focaccia. There’s room here to use up some Thanksgiving leftovers in these recipes or you can also start from scratch. All the recipes can be found here.
The group has selected Meals on Wheels America as their beneficiary for this webcast. All donations made via The WaterWheel Foundation will be given to the organization. Phish dug into their archives to post Dinner and A Movie music-and-food pairings throughout the global pandemic, pausing the series when they returned this past summer.
