Video Premiere: Rev. John Wilkins “Walk With Me”
Ahead of his new album Trouble – out Sept. 18 – Rev. John Wilkins is bouncing back from a battle with COVID-19 with his new music video for the album’s track “Walk With Me.”
“‘Walk With Me’ is an old song that my daddy use to set up in the house and play with my mother, who would be on tambourine,” Wilkins, who has been serving Mississippi’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church since the ’80s, explains. “It was one of the first gospel songs that I learned how to play. The words to the song have always been something that I believed and I never forgot how to play it. I want Jesus to walk with me and it doesn’t look like he has quit.”
Wilkins is the son of the famed bluesman Rev. Robert Wilkins, and with Trouble he offers a glimpse into his “remarkable life, his regional history and his family music history.”
