On Saturday afternoon in downtown Los Angeles, on the rooftop terrace of the Grammy Museum, Ziggy Marley and his band performed a family-friendly mini-set of half-a-dozen songs from his two themed albums: 2009’s Family Time and 2020’s More Family Time.
The performance, for an audience predominantly of families with young children, followed Marley and his wife, Orly, reading an excerpt from their new, co-written children’s book, Little John Crow.
During a brief Q&A with the couple, they were asked what prompted the focus on writing a book and recording the second family-centered album. “COVID,” Orly said simply. Ziggy released the deluxe vinyl edition of More Family Time this past September, with additional digital content, including live recordings- one with Ben Harper- and PDF downloads of two other children’s books.
Ziggy Marley is scheduled to appear next on Nov. 20 at Reggae on the Mountain in Santa Barbara, Calif. Tickets can be purchased here.
