Gregg Allman and Warren Haynes played a mini-set at New York’s the Best Buy Theater last night. The performance helped raise money for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, which hopes to complete a major expansion. A number of musicians with ties to the country world performed at the event, including Jason Aldean, Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Vince Gill, Ashley Monroe and Pat Monahan. The entire ensemble remained onstage during each individual performance.

Allman and Haynes’who are in New York for The Allman Brothers Band’s annual Beacon Theater run’closed the evening with a five-song acoustic set. They opened their performance with Allman’s take on Jackson Browne’s ‘These Days,’ before running through ‘Melissa,’ the Garth Books hit ‘Two of a Kind, Working on a Full House,’ ‘Midnight Rider’ and ‘Long Black Veil.’ Haynes co-wrote ‘Two of a Kind, Working on a Full House’ during his time as a Nashville songwriter, while “Long Black Veil” was a song regularly covered by the late Johnny Cash, whose birthday was yesterday.

Jason Aldean, who joined Allman and Haynes for “Midnight Rider” later tweeted the photo above. Others collaborations also took place, with Joan Osborne joining Emmylou Harris.

As previously reported, The Allman Brothers Band will debut two new songs and seven covers at the Beacon this year.
