On September 17, Mill Valley, CA’s Sweetwater Music Hall will host Huddle Up for Tommy O: A Benefit Performance for a Good Friend. This should be quite an event, with Bob Weir and Phil Lesh slated to perform along with Stu Allen & Mars Hotel. The football reference is to the Tamplais Chiefs, Weir’s team in the Mill Valley Flag Football League. Back in 1988 Weir won the MVFFL’s Golden Cleat award, which his Chiefs’ teammate Tommy Oliver [“Tommy O”] later received in 2004. The Golden Cleat is ‘given each year to the player who best embodies the concept of fair play and camaraderie.’ Tickets for the benefit are now on sale.
