The Cars: Move Like This

HEAR Music
The Cars secured their place in American pop culture in 1982 when their song “Moving in Stereo” played in the background of Phoebe Cates’ memorable pool scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. And on it first album in nearly a quarter-century, the reunited Boston new wave legends proves that they still have the chops to make the ladies lose their tops. The late Benjamin Orr’s presence is sorely missed on Move Like This – especially on slower numbers like “Soon” and “Take Another Look” – but surviving members Ric Ocasek, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes and David Robinson do a fine job of dialing the clock back 30 years on tracks like “Blue Tip” and “Sad Song,” which sound like lost sessions recorded between Candy-O and Shake It Up.
