Popular Internet meme turned Twitter hashtag now has a new distinction: album title. The third LP from electronic act Cosby Sweater is more New Deal than Big Gigantic, with pulsing rhythms underneath explosive saxophone work from Nicholas Gerlach. While this new trio (Gerlach, David Embry and Richard Floyd) may not fill the void left in fans by the recently disbanded Shearer, Kurtz and Shields project, it serves as a nice reminder that the days of electronic fusion acts are still alive and well. #coolstorybro is anchored in the middle by “Speaker Bit (ch),” a nine-minute behemoth that will get any crowd moving, while tunes “Sex Journey” and “Sriracha” take on a Daft Punk/MGMT feel, making this impressive album all the more versatile.
