Though Owen and Moley Ó Súilleabháin – the Irish-born brothers that make up Size2shoes – are recent New York transplants, they’ve already begun to make their mark in the U.S. Their second album, Happy Songs, is comprised of catchy “inspirational pop” tunes and Irish charm. It’s this same charm that’s garnered attention from such notable fans as Steven Spielberg and Russell Crowe, the latter of whom produced Happy Songs and performed with the band this past fall. That particular show had some impressive musical guests, including Alan Doyle and Sting, who delivered a comical performance of their number, “Breathless.” The song, a stripped-down acoustic tune displays the brothers’ penchant for harmonies. At other times, such as on “Temper Temper,” Moley takes the opportunity to showcase his skill as a – wait for it – rapper. “Moley turned to a more old-school and inspirational rap style once he discovered the real roots of hip-hop,” says Owen. The brothers’ infectious positivity is reflected in the messages of their music. “We always wanted to inspire our fans to feel better about themselves and about the world we live in,” says Owen. “Real artists always want to inspire people.”
