Last night Jack White performed his song “If I Die Tomorrow” on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. During the segment, White cast his shadow upon a 3-D recreation of the moon while he and his band solemnly performed the tune covered in azure light.
During the episode, White also sat down with the show’s host Stephen Colbert to discuss his two solo albums, Fear of the Dawn and Entering Heaven Alive, along with fictional collaborations with the host.
“If I Die Tomorrow” comes off the second LP of the year from White, Entering Heaven Alive, which was released today via Third Man Records. Fear of the Dawn was released in April through White’s label Third Man Records. The two projects explore different themes, tones and concepts but are tied together by “Taking Me Back,” though the renditions on each LP are very different.
It’s notable that White recently expanded his Supply Chain Issues tour, where he’ll be joined by many special guest openers, including Cat Power, The Paranoyds and the Ichi-Bons, as he performs throughout September and October. The initial set of North American dates will wrap on Aug. 29, and he’ll start things off again in Louisville, Kenn. on Sept. 15.
