Last night, English rock band the Arctic Monkeys stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for the TV debut of their new song “Body Paint” off their upcoming LP The Car, set to release on Oct. 21.

For the debut, frontman Alex Turner performed a steady ballad while rocking shades with joyous energy that hasn’t graced the screen in many years. The rest of the band was in top form for the TV slot as well, each intermittently providing their own musical spice to the mix and harmonizing with Turner between his spacious swagger-laced lyrics.

After coolly singing, “Straight from the cover shoot/ Still a trace of body paint/ On your legs and on your arms and on your face/ And I’m keeping on my costume/ And calling it a writing tool/ And if you’re thinking of me/ I’m probably thinking of you” the band broke into an instrumental break, highlighted by perfectly timed lights provided by Fallon’s crew.

The song marks the second release from the upcoming project following “There’d Better Be A Mirrorball.”
