Trey Anastasio took his orchestral format to Kansas City, Mo.’s Helzberg Hall at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, June 11. Joined by the Kansas City Symphony for their first collaboration, the Phish frontman followed his orchestral set at Morrison, Colo.’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Sunday with a second movement through sweeping chamber arrangements of Phish favorites and solo originals.

At Red Rocks, Anastasio broadened his symphonic repertoire with debuts of “Shade,” “Taste” and Ghosts of the Forest side “Drift While You’re Sleeping,” which landed as notable highlights within a 15-song mix including stirring renditions of “First Tube,” “More,” “Divided Sky,” “Stash,” “The Lizards,” “Harry Hood” and others. His subsequent staging in Kansas City replicated the setlist from his first symphonic show since June 2024, save for the inclusion of “The Inlaw Josie Wales” in the encore with “You Enjoy Myself.” The Farmhouse acoustic instrumental notably had its orchestral debut as the encore of Anastasio’s first orchestral performance in 2001, and has been a regular addition to the format in its revivals since.

On Saturday, June 13, Anastasio will reunite with pianist Jeff Tanski and return to the standard solo and duo arrangements of his current acoustic tour, then continue with six further shows through June 24. Find tickets and more information at trey.com.
