The Prince Estate Shares Official “Baltimore” Music Video, Honoring Protests Across the US

Following the death of George Floyd, the Prince Estate has shared a new music video for “Baltimore,” a cut off The Purple One’s final album, Hit n Run Phase Two.

The video – chronicling the wave of protests against police brutality and in support of the black community – is particularly pertinent given that Floyd’s death took place in Prince’s home city of Minneapolis, Minn.

In fact, the song was inspired by similar circumstances, after the tragic death of Freddie Gray while he was in the custody of the Baltimore Police Department.

The video closes with a quote from Prince himself, reading, “The system is broken. It’s going to take the young people to fix it this time. We need new ideas, new life…”
