Last night at New York’s Beacon Theatre on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Tedeschi Trucks Band took the first stand of their seven-night run at the fabled entertainment venue. The group kicked off the night with a complete performance of I Am The Moon: III. The Fall played from start to finish before they broke into a rendition of The Allman Brothers Band’s “Les Brers in A Minor.” The ensemble continued with originals and a sprinkling of covers, where they took on material originally produced by Dr. John, Taj Mahal and The Coasters.

Tedeschi Trucks Band’s Thursday night display got underway with the opening track off part three of their latest venture, the poetically infused I Am The Moon collection, inspired by the 12th-century Persian epic Layla and Majnun. After “Somehow” started off the night, the husband and wife duo, along with their band, took on “None Above,” “Yes We Will,” and “Gravity.” “Emmaline” arrived next before the LP’s final track, “Take Me As I Am,” featuring Susan Tedeschi and Derek Truck’s refined vocals collectively crooning the loving lyrics.

After a complete run-through of The Fall, the Tedeschi Trucks Band dipped into Trucks’ family roots with a rare take on The Allman Brothers Band’s “Les Brers in A Minor” before following up with Derek and the Domino’s “Bell Bottom Blues.” Then, they threw it back to their 2013 Made Up Mind collection on “Part of Me” before covering Dr. John’s “I Walk on Guided Splinters.” Next, the band returned to material off their second studio album, with the bluesy-rock epic, “Do I Look Worried.”

The main set continued with “It’s So Heavy,” before they worked through the title track off their third studio album, “Let Me Get By.” Then, for the final song of the initial frame, Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to Made Up Mind again, playing the number for which the LP was named. After a brief break, the group returned to the stage for their encore, where they began with a rendition of Taj Mahal’s “Leaving Trunk” before ending the evening with another cover, this time The Coasters’ “Let’s Go Get Stoned.”

After last night’s performance in the Big Apple, Tedeschi Trucks Band will return to the legendary Beacon Theatre stage this evening, where they will continue their multi-night run. Tickets for all seven nights of the band’s New York City stand are sold out.
