Taj Mahal has shared “Wild About My Lovin’,” the second single from his forthcoming studio album, Time. Set to release on May 1 via his own Resonatin’ Records imprint with Thirty Tigers, the legendary singer-songwriter and blues firebrand’s next release runs the range of the diverse styles he’s experimented with through his six-decade career, swirling soul, roots, reggae, open-ended Americana and more into another potent distillation of his life and legacy.
Following the title track, an enchantingly earthy previously unheard song penned by the late Bill Withers, the second single takes Taj’s uncommon taste for genre-defying arrangements and sets it on a lighter mood. “Wild About My Lovin” is a bright and blissful love song in the fluid transatlantic folk mode he’s pioneered, conjured by his longtime Phantom Blues Band; the telepathic chemistry between Taj and drummer Tony Braunagel, bassist Larry Fulcher and guitarist Johnny Lee Schell, under the guidance of producer Steve Berkowitz, gives the track a rich, upbeat and nimble patter.
