Today, singer Maria Muldaur is taking inspiration from the Crescent City and teaming up with brass outfit Tuba Skinny to premiere a new single “I Go For That.”

Explained Muldaur, “Wanting to pay tribute to women artists from New Orleans, I recently discovered that Dorothy Lamour, the  gorgeous, exotic, sarong-clad temptress we know from early
movies, actually started out as a singer with a low sultry voice in her husband’s big swing band, and recorded many sides with them in the ‘30s and ‘40s… who knew?! With droll lyrics like ‘You play the ‘uke, you’re from Dubuque’…  how could I not fall in love with this hip little ditty?”

Known as “The First Lady of Roots Music,” Muldaur will drop her latest album Let’s Get Happy Together on May 7, promising a “repertoire of vintage jazz and blues tunes that will have you jumping with joy.”

Pre-order Let’s Get Happy Together here.
