Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Reveals 2021 Inductees: Tina Turner, Foo Fighters, Carole King and More

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has revealed the Class of 2021 inductees. Six artists were inducted in the Performer category, including Foo Fighters, Carole King and Tina Turner.

Turner, who was the winner of this year’s fan vote, becomes a two-time inductee, as she was inducted as Ike and Tina Turner in 1991. Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl also becomes a two-time inductee, as he’s in with Nirvana (2014). Finally, Carole King is also now twice inducted, as she was honored with Gerry Goffin in 1990.

Joining the two-time inductees in the Performer category are The Go-Go’s, JAY-Z and Todd Rundgren. Meanwhile, three artists were awarded the Musical Excellence Award: LL Cool J, Billy Preston and Randy Rhodes. Three more were honored for the Early Influence Award: Kraftwerk, Gil Scott-Heron and Charley Patton. Finally, Clarence Avant took the Ahmet Ertegun award for a non-performing industry member.

“This diverse class of talented Inductees reflects the Rock Hall’s ongoing commitment to honor artists whose music created the sound of youth culture”, said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, in a statement. “It will make for an unforgettable live celebration of music in October at this year’s Induction Ceremony in Cleveland.”

Several nominees did not make the cut this year, including Fela Kuti, who finished second in the Fan Vote. Rage Against the Machine, Iron Maiden, Chaka Khan, Dionne Warwick and more.

The Induction Ceremony (the Rock Hall’s 36th annual event) will occur on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. ET at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. It will be simulcast on SiriusXM’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame channel (310). The event will also air at a later date on HBO and eventually become available to stream on HBO Max. Tickets will become available in July.
