Today, The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival announced that the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been added to their lineup. The six-time Grammy Award winners’ performance will fill a headling slot left vacant after Foo Fighters canceled all their upcoming touring dates, due to the tragic and untimely death of Talyor Hawkins. The Red Hot Chili Peppers performance will take place on Sunday, May 1.

Recently, the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed a surprise gig at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, in support of their new album Unlimited Love, (which was released on April Fools’ Day) giving fans a taste of what to expect for their upcoming appearance at Jazz Fest.

Unlimited Love is the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 12th studio album and marks the first with guitarist John Frusciante since 2006s Stadium Arcadium. Frusciante is credited with crafting the iconic riffs heard on “Snow,” “By the Way,” “Scar Tissue,” “Otherside,” “Under the Bridge,” “Californication” and more.

The 2022 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is scheduled for April 29 – May 8 and will see performances by The Avett Brothers, Charlie Wilson, Billy Strings, Bettye LaVette, The Black Crowes, Stevie Nicks and many more.
