Pearl Jam left more than 18,000 attendees in awe after its homecoming performance at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena on Tuesday, May 28. As the first of the band’s two-night hometown series–which will close out the first North American leg of its Dark Matter World Tour–the 40-year grunge vanguard set an unforgettable show, complete with tour debuts, fan-favorite covers and a tribute to Bill Walton. The second performance of the series will take place tonight. The second performance of the series will take place tonight, launching the band into its European run.

In the course of the evening, Pearl Jam delivered 25 songs, artfully weaving through its sprawling discography with stone-cold classics and new entries. Among the most memorable moments of the evening was the band’s performance of “Man of The Hour” which they dedicated to legendary NBA Hall of Fame center and devout Deadhead Bill Walton, who passed away on May 27. The broader setlist paired live standards with tour debuts such as “Thin Air,” “I Am Mine,” “Satan’s Bed” and many more. The night concluded with a massive nine-song encore, including a staggering delivery of 1991’s Ten classic “Alive” with a tag of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs,” a cover of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower”–performed only 17 times by the group since 2008–with opening act Deep Sea Diver and the show-closing “Setting Sun.”

Tonight’s return to Climate Pledge Arena will officially mark the end of the first North American leg of the Dark Matter World Tour. The road warriors will ride again on June 22 in Dublin and will run through Europe until mid-July. The band will touch down in America for the second North American leg of the tour on Aug. 22, performing shows in August and September before concluding the tour with dates in New Zealand and Australia in November.
