The second album from the Mickey Hart Band is set for release on August 13. Superorganism presents ten original compositions and features lyrics by longtime Grateful Dead collaborator Robert Hunter. The album also features guest appearances by Giovanni Hidalgo and Zakir Hussain. Hart explains of the album title and concept, “A superorganism is a complex organism composed of many smaller organisms. A band is a superorganism, so is the universe. For the last few years I have been creating music from the source sounds of the cosmos and now the body. These sounds are noise – harsh, strange – and it is only after dancing with their essence face to face that music can be created.” We have just posted a “Superorganism Mash” featuring a taste of all the songs on the album.
