For the upcoming reissue of Prince’s Sign O’ the Times, the late musician’s estate has shared one of the many unheard tracks from the stacked release, a 1979 version of “I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man.”

Recorded on May 23, 1979 at Hollywood Sound Recorders, this take was originally considered for Prince’s self-titled LP, but it didn’t make the cut. After sitting in Prince’s vault for years, it was eventually re-recorded by the Purple One in 1986 and released on the original version of Sign O’ the Times.
