Goose have given fans everywhere cause for celebration today with the surprise release of Live at The Capitol Theatre, a sprawling new live album that comprehensively retells the band’s historic series at the iconic Port Chester, N.Y. venue.  From April 7 to 10, the band made history with at its second annual Spring Residency at The Cap, where it debuted its new lineup featuring drummer Cotter Ellis and treated fans to a vast array of surprises along the way.

In the course of its four nights at The Cap, Goose managed to continually raise the bar for its show to follow. The explosive first night showed the newly reordered indie groove quintet at peak performance–exemplified by standout selections like The Who’s “Eminence Front,” Vasudo original “Hot Love & The Lazy Poet” and the all-new “SALT,” which is released for the first time on this record as “STL.” On night two, to coincide with the national event that was the total solar eclipse, the band delivered a full run-through of its 2016 debut album Moon Cabin, plus an encore of the 2022 fan favorite “Hot Tea.”

Shenanigans continued on night three as the band exhibited further skill with the stirring rarity “It Burns Within”–marking the track’s eighth-ever performance by Goose and closing a year-long gap since its last staging–and a live debut of the original “Give It Time.”  These thrills hardly compared, though, to the shocking sit-in from the fourth and final show of the series, when Goose welcomed new friends Vampire Weekend to the stage. Together, the bands dished out VW’s standout 2024 single “Gen X Cops” and a jaw-dropping half-hour run through the classic “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa.” For those without the good fortune of being there in the moment, the new live collection brings this unexpected and amazing collaboration to fans everywhere.
