On Thursday, Feb. 13, Chris Thile and Punch Brothers will return to Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre in Greenwich Village for another exciting edition of The Energy Curfew Music Hour. For the third episode of the series’ second season, Thile and his acclaimed string ensemble will be joined by another set of very special guests, tapping seven-time Grammy winning multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier and two-decade avant-pop forerunners Tune-Yards to contribute to the immersive, narrative-driven concert series. Thursday’s show will be recorded live and released worldwide as an Audible Original.
The Energy Curfew Music Hour is spearheaded by Thile and co-creator Claire Coffee and hosted by Thile and fellow Punch Brothers of Noam Pikelny, Chris Eldridge, Paul Kowert and Brittany Haas. The revue event is themed around an enticing fictional premise: in an imagined near-future, the government enacts a weekly curfew to conserve energy by shutting down the electrical grid completely for twenty-four hours. Listeners across the country tune into the national broadcast of acoustic music in the final hour of power to usher in the great unplugging.
“The forces of the show are geared towards transporting all of us–the listener, the participants, the guests and us,” Thile detailed in a feature for the December 2024 issue of Relix. “There’s such an emphasis on collaboration and an emphasis on playing acoustically, regardless of what you normally do. We wanted to run the gamut, in terms of musical approach–not just over the course of the season but across each episode. We selected guests not only based on their prowess but also because they are all very natural collaborators. Part of the plan was, ‘Let’s see if one and one can make three.’”
Today’s announcement follows two exceptional programs in 2025 so far, featuring guest-spots from Billy Strings, Jesca Hoop, Shawn Mendes, Cécile McLorin Salvant and Sullivan Fortner. Season one invited such tremendous talents as Lake Street Dive, Madison Cunningham, James Taylor, Jason Isbell, Sylvan Esso, Norah Jones, Kacey Musgraves, and Jon Batiste, all of whom embraced the show’s format and storytelling to deliver unforgettable stripped-back sets. All previous episodes of The Energy Curfew Music Hour are available on Audible and elsewhere as podcasts now.
A limited number of tickets for Thursday’s performance are still available both online and in person at the Minetta Lane box office. At 9:00 a.m. on the day of the show, fans will be able to purchase standing room tickets via the TodayTix app. Special guests for upcoming performances on Feb. 18 and Feb. 24, plus an additional performance date, will be announced soon.
