Grammy Museum to Host Preview Event for Docuseries ‘They Called Us Outlaws,’ with Live Performances by Jessi Colter, Tyler Childers and Shooter Jennings

On Dec. 5, Los Angeles’ Grammy Museum will host a preview event for the new six-chapter documentary series, dubbed They Called Us Outlaws, which examines the legacy of cosmic cowboys, honky tonk heroes and outlaw country rock and pairs it with interviews and performances from contemporary acts.

The screening event is billed to include a special appearance by They Called Us Outlaws’ executive producer and Grammy Hall of Fame award recipient, Jessi Colter, who shares her story in the film series. Moreover, the evening will also feature a performance by Childers, joined by John R. Miller and Abby Hamilton, as well as Jennings.

Filmmakers Eric Geadelmann and Kelly Magelky will also be in attendance. They will participate in a roundtable discussion with former Kings of Leon band member Chris Coleman, the musician who created the original scores for the film series. In addition, the movie’s narrator and executive producer, Jack Ingram, will moderate the aforementioned panel.

They Called Us Outlaws grants viewers over 100 interviews featuring some the era’s most iconic faces. Ranging in subjects from the trailblazers of the cosmic ‘70s to modern-day visions like EmmyLou Harris, Miranda Lambert, Margo Price and more, the upcoming series offers an easy entry point for fans of the genre and those looking to learn more.

Jennings gave a statement about the upcoming event and series release. He offered: “Eric Geadelmann has spent countless hours and years of his life perfecting an expansive portrait of the history of the Country Music independents rebellion. He came to us with a vision and has delivered a study of the artists and the paths they took to change the face of the music they loved.”

Childers added, “It’s an honor to not only be asked to be in this film, but to also be asked to play some music and share the stage with Jessi Colter. I’m real stoked to see all my buddies too.”
