Garcia Gear Clears $6000 (and More from “maestrohealy”)

March 25, 2013

A couple weeks ago we reported that longtime Grateful Dead soundman Dan Healy was auctioning two pieces of Jerry Garcia’s gear via eBay. The competition was heated for the Musitronics Mutron III Envelope Follower Effects Pedal (above), which Healy described, “was one of two he had that he used both on stage and in the studio. The white China marker grease pencil marks are his settings he made in the studio using the marker he snitched from the tape recorder where it was used to mark splice marks on the tape. This is an authentic item and the real deal. We have all heard the hours of improvisation he created with the sound of this baby!” The pedal ultimately brought $4,550.00 after 36 bids. Healy also offered Garcia’s Boss Tone Over-Drive Distortion Device and Healy noted, “This is an original Boss Tone from circa 1967 and one of the original over-drive guitar devices famous for many early rock performances. I got this one from Jerry way back when we rehearsed at The Heliport in Sausalito.” The Boss Tone brought $1,675.00 via 36 bids.

“maestrohealy” is currently offering an RCA Model MI-12182 – 70 Watt Audio Amplifier (below) with no Garcia Provenance but one that originally was used at Jones Beach Amphitheatre in Wantagh, NY.
