Last night, Dave Mathews Band returned to the stage following a short break in their summer tour for their first appearance at Grand Rapids, MI’s brand new Acrisure Amphitheater. The show fell on keyboardist Buddy Strong’s 46th birthday and, continuing a recent trend, featured a few unexpected bust outs.

The evening kicked off with the classic Crash jam “Lie in Our Graves” and, a few songs later, the group dusted off the Walk Around the Moon tune “Break Free” for the first time since last August. They then moved on to the Everyday single “I Did It,” which was revived after a decade at the end of DMB’s tour last summer and has been back in regular rotation ever since, before offering “Come Together” for the first time since November 16, 2022. The title-track from Dave Matthews Band’s 2018 studio album, the recorded version of “Come Together” features Brandi Carlile and was re-released as a single boasting a more pronounced vocal performance from the ascendant musician a year later. The tune was played regularly at first but then fell out of rotation, and the last time Matthews offered the song in any format was at a solo acoustic appearance at a Raphael Warnock rally on November 28, 2022, less than two weeks after DMB had last performed it. The group has continued to roll out oft-overlooked material in recent years, nodding to all eras of their catalog.

Dave Matthews Band will return to the Acrisure Amphitheater this evening.
