Carlos Santana has announced that he will embark on an extensive North American trek slated to begin this summer. The impending run has been titled the 1001 Rainbows Tour and will celebrate the group’s 50-year legacy by pulling material from every era of Santana’s illustrious career.
On the road, the iconic guitarist, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, will be accompanied by his wife and bandmate Cindy Blackman Santana (drums), as well as collaborators Andy Vargas (vocals), Benny Rietveld (bass), David K Mathews (keys), Karl Perazzo (percussion), Paoli Mejias (percussion) and Ray Greene (vocals).
Santana’s spring schedule will kick off on May 4 with a set at The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest. Next, the group will go to Texas for back-to-back appearances in Dallas and Houston. Then, after a short break, they will pick back up with a series of East Coast dates, beginning on June 21 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
After a stint in The Garden State, the band will follow with a tight run through New York, Ohio, Ontario and Michigan. On July 26, the group will gig at The Theater at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md., prior to their two-night stand in Atlantic City, N.J. From there, they’ll traverse to Connecticut and Maine, stopping for shows in the process.
Before the final tour stop, Santana and company will play two nights of music at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston on August 4 and 5. Lastly, on Aug. 6, the group will take their final stand of the 1001 Rainbows Tour at MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass.
Ticket sales begin on March 3 and will be available on the band’s website. In addition, ticket pre-sale can be accessed here, through the Santana Fan Club.
