Big Ears Festival Adds Live Presentation of Reasons to be Cheerful with David Byrne & Guests to 2023 Lineup

Today, Feb. 28, Big Ears Festival, the annual multi-day gathering in Knoxville, Tenn., has added Conversations with David Byrne & Guests to their impending bill. While the overall event will occur from March 30 through April 2, Byrne’s appearance will land on Friday, March 31.

Byrne’s upcoming discussion at Big Ears Festival will center around the aims and effects of solutions-based journalism, which ties into his work with Reasons to be Cheerful, a non-profit editorial project that was created three years ago to remedy the current news cycle.

As the founder and in-house headline writer of Reasons to be Cheerful, Byrne will continue his conversation on stage in Knoxville, Tenn., where he’ll welcome two inspiring regional activists and change-makers who are committed to building practical, effective solutions to problems facing their communities.

Apart from Byrne’s live discussion, Big Ears Festival has previously announced a packed musical lineup that includes a myriad of talent. Topping the list are Los Lobos, Allison Russell, Bill Frisell, Lucius, Béla Fleck, Kevin Morby, Andrew Bird, Julian Lage, Iron & Wine, The Bad Plus, Sierra Hull and many others.
