In a undoubtedly average year for Saturday Night Live on all fronts, last night offered up one of the more thrilling moments of the show’s 40th season as Zac Brown Band brought two new tracks from their forthcoming album Jekyl & Hyde and even packed in a surprise as well. Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell joined the group for “Heavy is the Head,” reviving the time when musical guests on SNL would include some element of the unexpected. Cornell sings on the studio track, which is available now when you pre-order the record, and collaborated with the group last night.

Jekyl & Hyde arrives April 28 via Brown’s own Southern Ground and the band will hit the road for an extensive tour beginning May 1 in Nashville.
