Watch Sufjan Stevens Play with Chris Thile on _Live From Here_

April 25, 2018

This past Saturday, singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens was one of the guests on Chris Thile’s Live From Here, which was broadcasting its concert from New York’s Town Hall, and Thile and his band backed Stevens on several tunes during the show.

Before joining Stevens on “Heirloom,” a song from his 2010 EP All Delighted People, Thile jokingly addressed the songwriter, saying, “I would like to ask you about a problem I’ve never myself experienced, which is how you deal with having too many good songs.” Stevens got a laugh out of the question, but admitted that for every released song of his there are 10 terrible ones left on the shelf. He also noted that “Heirloom” was actually written two decades ago, causing Thile to go partial fan-boy with excitement at the prospect of hearing “20-years-ago Sufjan.”

Watch video of that collaboration below, along with Stevens, Thile and the Live From Here band playing Stevens’ tunes “Mystery Of Love” and “Visions of Gideon” from the Call Me By Your Name soundtrack, along with his tribute to former Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding.
