This weekend’s episode of
Austin City Limits welcomed Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit to the stage for a show that hit upon Isbell’s solo catalog along with his work with the Unit – including last year’s The Nashville Sound – plus solo tunes from Amanda Shires and a choice cover from their old friend John Prine. 

Both Isbell and Shires – the Americana/country power couple who miraculously manage to make both individual and collaborative music careers work while raising a family – have expressed their love and respect for Prine and his music and have shared the stage with the iconic musician on multiple occasions.

Below, watch Isbell and Shires duet on Prine’s “Clocks and Spoons,” sharing vocal duties and each taking solos on their respective instruments.
