Watch Dave Matthews Pay Tribute to Tom Petty at Private California Show

The music world reacted to the tragic news of the passing of legendary musician and songwriter Tom Petty, with many taking to social media and a few paying tribute on stage including Dave Matthews.
Performing a private show at the Silverado Resort in Napa Valley, CA, Matthews paid tribute to Petty with a rendition of his own “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” which DMB covered a number of times in recent years dating back to 2013. This was the first time Matthews has played the song solo.
Jimmy Buffett, who was in attendance, filmed a short clip of the tribute.
