The Warren Haynes Christmas Jam Pre-Jam (A Gallery)

December 13, 2015

Last night in Asheville, NC, the Orange Peel hosted the Pre-Jam for the 27th annual Warren Haynes Christmas Jam. Haynes started things off solo with “Railroad Boy” and “Old Friend” and sat down for an interview before Drivin’ N Cryin’ took to the stage.  Next up were ChessBoxer, the string outfit that has been touring with Haynes and drummer Jeff Sipe for his Ashes & Dust shows. Asheville native Larry Rhodes then appeared for two tunes before Love Canon came out for a set that included versions of Dire Straits’ “Money For Nothing” and Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone.” Haynes’ protege and guitar phenom Marcus King brought his band out for a longer set and welcomed Haynes to the stage, along with Craig Sorrells and Mike Barnes. Haynes then closed out the night with his Ashes & Dust Band (Sipe and ChessBoxer), while Barnes and Sorrells appeared for the “Two of a Kind Blues” encore. Dino Perrucci shares these images.
