Video Premiere: The Suite Unraveling “Gallagher Walks In”

October 16, 2014

The Suite Unraveling recently released their debut self-titled album on John Zorn’s Tzadik Records. Led by guitarist Lily Maase the trio delivers instrumental music that draws on Ornette Coleman, Morbid Angel and a range of electronic music. Today we premiere the official video for “Gallagher Walks In,” the lead track from The Suite Unraveling. Maase explains, “We came up in the early DIY scene in Bushwick and owe much of our sound to the time and space we had to really play around with the music back then–warehouse spaces, robot costume parties, concerts in rooftops and basements, we built a whole universe around ourselves, and that universe made it possible for our music to come to life in its own time. Filmmaker Julia Pasternak re-conceived the Suite Unraveling as cyborgs in a post-apocalyptic alternate reality, traversing a burned-out world in search of the last remaining virgins, that we might sanctify them with the juice of a thousand shattered watermelons. Recorded at the Tree Fort in Dumbo, filmed at the Nut Roaster in Bushwick and at Ft Tilden in the Rockaways, and full of footage from the road, this is also our love song to a specific Brooklyn that lasted for just a moment but, at the time, seemed would last forever.”
