Pete RG is currently on tour with his band in support of his new debut full-length Tender Souls. His work has been hailed for its “high-quality rock with honest and engaging lyrics, a hammering backbeat plus gorgeous harmonies.” Today we premiere the entertaining new animated lyric video for his song “Divine.”

Pete RG tells Relix, “Some songs come so fast and easy, you question whether or not you really wrote them. Some are so difficult to write, it’s like pulling your own teeth to get them done. ‘Divine’s’ one of those songs that just fell into my lap. Brina and I were playing with a new drum machine. New musical toys always equals inspiration and new songs. We’d been listening to the last War On Drugs album quite a bit around that time. We tapped out a simple uptempo groove with some 80’s-ish sounds. I grabbed a guitar and immediately started playing the chord changes and singing the melody. A few scattered lyrics came out, as well, including the chorus phrase. Quickly, Brina and I put together one of the ugliest sounding demos of all time. But, it got the point across. As soon as the band heard it, they banged out the song within a couple of takes. The icing on the cake was Kevin’s lead guitar part. It was the first idea that rolled off his fingers. Beautiful. I love that part.”
