Singer-songwriter Erika Wennerstrom, frontwoman for Austin-based Heartless Bastards, released her debut solo album, Sweet Unknown, earlier this year, and today we premiere a new video from the record for the track “Staring Out the Window.” 

Wennerstrom spoke with Relix about the genesis of the video, created in collaboration with Colombian artist Julián González Leon, who also made the cover art for Sweet Unknown (see below):

“When I came across Julián’s art and what is now my record cover, I knew I instantly I wanted to get ahold of him. The image really spoke to me. He happened to work in the film industry in Bogotá, Colombia, and I asked if he would be up for doing on a video for the album as well. A couple months later, I found myself on a plane to Bogotá to film ‘Staring out the Window,’ and to finish the album art. It was an opportunity for us both to step outside our comfort zones creatively, and personally since neither of us spoke each other’s language very well.”
