Last night on The Tonight Show, John Oates (much like other musicians have in the past), sat in with house band The Roots for the duration of the show. Oates joins a long line of musicians who have sat in with the group including, most recently, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. On Thursday, Hall & Oates will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. John Oates will then play a show on Friday at the Cutting Room in New York City.

Bandmate and fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Daryl Hall has also jammed with The Roots. Check out “I Can’t Go For That” from 2012’s Wawa Welcome America Concert held in the legendary crew’s hometown of Philadelphia.

And if you haven’t seen it yet, here is proof that everyone loves The Roots.
