Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela released their latest studio album, Mettavolution, this past Friday, and today we premiere the video for the record’s opening title track.

“‘Metta’ is a practical state of mind,” says Gabriela Quintero, noting that the new album’s title combines the Buddhist idea of love-focused metta meditation with the concept of “meta,” or higher forms, and “evolution.” “It’s something you practice like an instrument to become a better citizen, in a more evolved place.”

The video, which can be viewed below, pairs the energetic title track with video of the two guitarists playing in an empty warehouse along with sprawling, computer-generated landscapes.

Rodrigo y Gabriela will play an in-store set at Denver’s Twist & Shout tomorrow, May 3, before heading to Austin, TX, on Saturday and Memphis’ Beale Street Music Festival on Sunday. See their full tour schedule here.
