Longtime jazz-scene stalwarts The Bad Plus brought their show to New York’s Blue Note on Friday night, helping kick off this month’s Blue Note Jazz Festival with a portion of their six-night, 12-show run at the venue. The group recently inaugurated new pianist Orrin Evans at the beginning of this year after over 15 years playing with the same trio lineup of drummer Dave King, bassist Reid Anderson and Ethan Iverson, whose departure from The Bad Plus made way for Evans. Dino Perrucci shared some photos from the band’s Blue Note appearance.
