Ten Days of Bonnaroo | Jack White Lays Waste to The Farm

Rob Slater on June 1, 2016

At Bonnaroo 2014, it seemed virtually impossible to steal the spotlight away from Kanye West, who made his controversial return to The Farm after a less-than-successful (understatement) first go-round in 2008. But that’s exactly what Jack White did, playing the same stage West did the previous night. His antics were eerily similar, firing shots across the media’s bow (White was crucified by Rolling Stone just weeks before the show) and preaching the importance of music. But his execution was other-wordly.

The end result is a 27-song set that went well past the constraints of his set time and bled over into the late night activities. No one really seemed to care. It was White asserting himself as the premiere rock star in the world, just a night after a rapper attempted the same feat. Bookending the set with “Icky Thump” and a towering “Seven Nation Army,” White and his band delivered something for everyone, making it one of the most dominant headlining sets in the festival’s history.

Relive Jack White’s simply legendary headlining set from 2014.
