On February 5,  Hey Marseilles will return with a new self-titled album. The group’s third studio effort continues the exploration of folk, classical and rock sounds that began back in 2006 when lead vocalist/guitarist Matt Bishop and guitarist Nick Ward founded the group. It marks the first time that Hey Marseilles has worked with outside producers or songwriters, including Anthony  Kilhoffer (Kanye West and John Legend). The forthcoming eponymous album builds on the lush, cinematic sounds of the band’s previous efforts, as evidenced by the song that we premiere today, “North And South.” Bishop tells Relix, “‘North And South’ is about giving in and trusting in the love you have for
someone despite all obstacles, real or imagined, external or internal. I wrote
it as a finger-picked folk song on acoustic guitar… it was really fun to see how it
transformed into a ballad with programmed beats.”
