Song Premiere: Ghosts of Jupiter “The Eastern Glow”

October 7, 2016

Boston-based psych rock band Ghosts of Jupiter will release their second full length album The Great Bright Horses on October 11. The group self-produced The Great Bright Horses over the course of two years, utilizing portable equipment to record in rustic spaces across rural Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. The reference points for the new record include Traffic, King Crimson and Meddle-era Pink Floyd, as well as Tame Impala, Midlake, and Dungen.

Ghosts of Jupiter features Nate Wilson (lead vocals, keyboards, guitar, flute), Adam Terrell (guitar, vocals), Jason Cohen (keyboards), Thomas Arey (drums) and Tommy Lada (bass, vocals). In 2012 the band created Ghosts of Jupiter: Music Experience, a fully immersive music and animation film which ran for over a year at the Charles Hayden Planetarium in Boston, and has since screened at festivals in Auckland, New Zealand and Boulder, Colorado.

Today we premiere the record’s closing track, “The Eastern Glow.” Nate Wilson tells Relix that the song “was loosely inspired by an H.P. Lovecraft short story called The Colour out of Space. The second half of the song was recorded live at Q Division in Somerville, MA and features some stellar slide guitar playing by Adam Terrell.”

The Great Bright Horses will be available for download on October 11 through the band’s website. The group will support the new record with a series of New England dates which are listed below the stream.
