Song Premiere: Galactic “Ready Willing and Able” (from the _Coolin’ Off_ Sessions)

July 11, 2016

This month marks the 20th anniversary of Galactic’s debut studio album, Coolin’ Off. To celebrate the occasion the group will play a special show at Red Rocks, this Thursday, July 14, with original vocalist Theryl “Houseman” DeClouet, as well as Erica Falls who is currently on tour singing with the group (the bill also features BoomBox and Pimps of Joytime, with tickets now available).

In addition, Galactic dug into the archives and found a track originally recorded during the Coolin’ Off sessions that did not make it onto the final album. Today, we premiere that tune, “Ready Willing And Able,” which features vocals from Houseman. The group’s Robert Mercurio tells Relix, “With all of the excitement of our upcoming Red Rocks show with Houseman and the 20th anniversary of our first album Coolin’ Off, it inspired me to go through some of the old masters from that recording session. In doing so, I came across an old vocal song we hadn’t released called ‘Ready, Willing, and Able.’ This song was a staple of our first few years of touring and I thought that with the timing of everything that we should release this to the world. We decided to get our original producer and mixer Dan Prothero to mix this and give it that Coolin’ Off  feel.”
