Song Premiere: Dela and the Aggrolites “Atlantic and Smith” (feat. Angelo Moore)

October 27, 2017

Slightly Stoopid’s Daniel “Dela” Delacruz and Karl Denson are teaming up as Dela and The Aggrolites, who will release their debut album Opening Night in early November.

The album, which fuses reggae and jazz, includes a number of guests including Rasahwn Ross, Delacruz’s Slightly Stoopid bandmate Andy Geib, Fishbone’s Angelo Moore and Marco Benevento and today we premiere one of Moore’s contributions to the album, “Atlantic & Smith.”

“Atlantic and Smith are two streets in Boerum Hill Brooklyn,” Delacruz said. “I lived there for two years in this railroad flat. One day, I left an iron on the top shelf of my book shelf. Don’t ask me why the hell I did that. I walked by and yanked the cord accidentally. The next thing I know, the iron hit me in the head. I saw some stars, but came out of the daze with the bassline in my head. Angelo is a huge influence on my life. I’ve always looked up to him. I knew he was perfect to tell the story in a spoken word way.”
