Song Premiere: Colvin & Earle “Happy & Free”

April 27, 2016

Shawn Colvin
and Steve Earle first met in the mid-80s when Colvin opened a gig for Earle at Northampton, MA’s Iron Horse Music Hall. The pair became friends, mutual-admirers, and finally musical collaborators when Colvin contacted Earle two years ago after coming off a tour with Mary Chapin Carpenter and looking to branch out from her solo songwriting experiences. Their self-titled debut as Colvin & Earle, which is set for release on June 10 features six originals songs written by the duo as well as such covers as the Rolling Stones’ “Ruby Tuesday,” and Emmylou Harris’ “Raise the Dead.” Today we premiere “Happy & Free” from the forthcoming album.  Colvin describes it as “the feel good song of the record,” while Earle adds, “Isn’t that what everybody wants?”

Colvin & Earle is now available for pre-order via iTunes and Amazon.
