Ryan Adams is Trying to Rescue a New Zealand Cemetery Cat
File this story under: AWWWWWWW
If you follow Ryan Adams on Twitter, you’re well aware of his love for cats (and Godzilla) and now, he’s taking action when he stumbled upon a stray cat in an Auckland, New Zealand cemetery as he took a stroll around the town to relieve the effects of jetlag after a long trip. Adams came across the cat at Symonds Street Cemetery and immediately put it out on his Twitter account that the little guy needed a home.
Please any local cat rescue in Auckland, there’s a little black kitten Symonds & Grafton- in Cemetery. Abandoned. pic.twitter.com/EwgILWC0JJ

I fed her. She’s very sweet- was crying for help. Clearly abandoned. Symonds & Grafton bridge cemetery. Very loving. pic.twitter.com/k77fp4w4rd

After Adams fed the cat and spent some time with it, enter hero Rob Isaac, who will be a recurring character throughout this story. Isaac reached out about setting up a way to rescue the cat, and as you’ll see, the two went back and forth for most of the night trying to locate and rescue the cat.
Rob she’s right there by the food bowls- right side of path by a grave- thru the gate by the bathrooms & bus stop https://t.co/wG7xC9lG5q

Omg you are a saint. Originally she was crying at the end of the path- where the path ends. Did you see the bowls? https://t.co/4Dk2mwIqnZ

@rmi OMG That’s her… Just let her come to you. It took 5 min. Just sit and hold out your hand. That’s all I did

OMG man, lemme know if you need back-up. She’s very loving- I was there an hour at least w her https://t.co/zrqSc4tkQ1

With the first night’s attempts unsuccessful, Adams’ monitor engineer returned to the park in the morning to feed the cat once again. Isaac, along with a few others, reached out again about setting up a trap.
Cemetery cat is still there. Our monitor engineer fed her this morning and sent this pic. Still needs a home pic.twitter.com/CZi4mBlJyV

She’s still there. We fed her this morning but cannot take her to hotel then travel even if we had a trap.

The saga continues, with hopefully a resolution coming soon. The story seems to be gaining local traction and it looks like the #CemeteryCat (a worldwide trend last night) will have a home very soon.
