R.E.M.‘s Michael Stipe Performs David Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold the World” on ‘Fallon’

R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe will take part in the massive tribute to David Bowie taking place this week in New York City. To preview the show, Stipe (beard and all) appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for a powerful rendition of Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold the World.” Watch below.

Stipe will appear alongside the likes of Mumford & Sons, Pixies, The Flaming Lips, J Mascis, Debbie Harry, The Roots, Perry Farrell and others for a two-night celebration of David Bowie’s music at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. The shows will also be livestreamed with all proceeds benefitting music education.
