Pro-Shot Video: Watch Aqueous Nail This Cover of Oysterhead’s “Pseudo Suicide” at Summer Camp 2018

June 5, 2018

Oysterhead—the supergroup featuring Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio, Primus bassist Les Claypool and drummer Stewart Copeland of The Police—haven’t played a show together in well over a decade, but at Illinois’ Summer Camp festival a couple weeks ago, Aqueous decided to do their best attempt at a séance by resurrecting the spirit of that group with a killer cover of the trio’s “Pseudo Suicide.”

In case you weren’t there for the real thing, Aqueous just shared some pro-shot video of that energetic Oysterhead cover, which came during the Upstate New York-based jam act’s late-night set on Friday of Summer Camp 2018.

“Having been inspired by The Police, Phish and Primus, when Trey Anastasio, Stewart Copeland and Les Claypool formed Oysterhead and released The Grand Pecking Order, we were all floored by it’s epic weirdness!” says Aqueous’ Mike Gantzer. “It’s been on our radar for a few years to cover one of those tunes, but we needed a context that would allow us to drop that kind of darker, high-energy vibe that ‘Pseudo Suicide’ carries. When we saw that both of our Summer Camp sets were at 2:00am this year, we knew it was the perfect crowd and context to bust this one out! Special shout out to one of our diehard AQ fans who pestered the band to cover Oysterhead, too.
