Today in 1997, Phish’s absolutely ridiculous fall tour rolled into Albany, NY’s Pepsi Arena as the band simply breathed fire during the entire run. On this particular night, the energy peaked with a round-robin jam during “Mike’s Song” in the second set designed around a “bring in the dude” chant. 

What unfolded was some lyrical changes to “Mike’s Song” before Gordon “brought in the dude” with a bass solo thanks to the encouragement of Fishman. Trey then requested to bring in the dude himself with a dropout funk-jam and Page then took everyone to “Funkytown” with a tease of the Lipps Inc. hit. Eventually, the venue returned to Earth but not before more “bring in the dude” chants.
