October 13, 2013

Pearl Jam opened their tour in Pittsburgh, PA this weekend. Along with debuting five new cuts from their forthcoming album Lightning Bolt, the band also rolled through some deep cuts like “Footsteps” and “MFC” as well as mixing in the hits towards the end of the show, ultimately closing with “Yellow Ledbetter.” Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jason Grilli also joined the band on stage during the encore for “Whipping.” Grilli, who uses a Pearl Jam song as he takes the field, spoke to the fans just days after the Pirates were eliminated from the MLB playoffs. Pearl Jam’s tour continues this week with two shows in Worcester, MA and a weekend two-night stand in Brooklyn, NY. Check out photos of the tour opener courtesy of John Patrick Gatta.
